Giving

“Life is a gift, and it offers us the privilege, opportunity and responsibility to give something back by becoming more.” – Anthony Robbins

When I was younger, I was quite stingy?. Before anyone would ask me for anything my reply was set at NO. I had to see a lot of reasons and benefits when I give before actually considering the option of giving. Thank God, when I became a teenager I found it easier to give things out and in my 100l I’ve already become a pro. I developed the heart of a giver.

It doesn’t always look easy to give especially things you want for yourself or what you cherish so much. I grew up seeing my parents very generous to everyone they had the privilege of getting in contact with. All my siblings were like that too, I was surrounded by friends who had that heart Nchedo, Toonie, Atonye, Anita, Nk, etc, it made it a lot more easier being a cheerful giver. It is one of the most heartwarming feelings in the world.

Giving is to transfer freely the possession of something to someone. It is basically handing something to someone. It could be material or non-material.

Let’s learn to give without expectations and strings attached. Giving isn’t a form of trade even though there are benefits attached to it. When you give with your heart, nothing is too small. Just a smile or an act of kindness from you can lighten someone’s mood or make a suicidal person think twice that life isn’t that bad. It’s okay to give out what we have in abundance, what you are no longer in use of. Then I had serious problem letting go of shoes and clothes I know deep down I won’t be wearing again ?? my wardrobe was basically filled with them. I thought about the price I got them or how beautiful they looked but I had more. I had to take up the courage to start giving them out or things I love like my books. A lot of people have wishful thinking to have half of what you have. Why not share smart ideas with others if you know so much? ?

The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others” – Mahatma Ghandi

Most times a lot of excuses come up when we want to give “I don’t have enough to give out, when I make so much money I can start giving”. That could go wrong in most cases because when you don’t give with the little you have, it becomes difficult because normally the percentage might not change so you’ll have more needs at that point and your quest for more would be higher so you’ll find it difficult giving.

2 Corinthians 9:6-7 Now this I say, he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

We should also give with wisdom if not we would end up regretting over-generousity. People won’t likely remember the good you did for them before using it against you. Let’s be watchful and that’s why as christains we should have the Holy Spirit minister to use about who we give to and how we go about it. Give with a glad and generous heart because the very act of letting go of money does something within us. It destroys the demon greed and allows generosity to grow. A friend once told me that if you’re scared of giving, give out what you can do without incase it’s never paid back.

Dear friends and readers, let’s start today to put a smile on your neighbours face by giving out. It will go a long way and don’t forget God sees everything we do. This principle of giving applies to our tithing. We don’t have to tell the world about it. Only God rewards in open. Let the change start now and open our heart for more.

Proverbs 18:16 A gift opens the way and ushers the giver into the presence of the great.
Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Luke 6:38 | NIV

Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act. Proverbs 3:27 | NIV

“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.” Malachi 3:10 | NIV

The wicked borrow and do not repay, but the righteous give generously. Psalm 37:21 | NIV

Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely, who conduct their affairs with justice. Psalm 112:5 | NIV
